Thank you, Rita Jones/Ellis Huff and Jeremy Lawyer/Cami McKnight. I take your comments to heart, even though you do not appear to have read the article and offer no counter-arguments to the views presented therein, but only offer comments blatantly shilling Kindles in the hopes of quick sales, corroborated by the sites you link to being shameless promotional vehicles for selling these devices and others, and having e-mail addresses that in no way match the names your provide on the comments or having any relation to your promotional Web sites.

My cynicism has grown to the point where the latest spam comment has fallen on the heap and caused a catastrophic collapse of my tolerance. If I should be wrong in my judgement please let me know of my error, and I will gladly provide a platform for meaningful dialogue pertinent to the subject of the original articles.

I received my Kindle last Wednesday, and I have spent every free moment since reading and finding its full potential. I have yet to find an aspect or a feature that I am completely dissatisfied with.

I'm sure that without reading the User's Guide, anyone can take the Kindle out of the box and figure out how to purchase his or her first book in a few minutes. All of the controls and buttons are well placed and easy to understand. The 5-way controller allows for the easiest insertion of highlights or notes. I couldn't imagine trying to navigate internet pages without it.

The online capabilities are impressive though there are a few draw backs. It is a little slow with the refresh rate at times. Also, when I pull up a website that is outside of the already bookmarked sites, it may take a little bit of time as well. However, my favorite forum sites and local newspapers are all there. Once they are loaded, it's as good as being at my computer.

I have never really been a reader who takes notes while reading. If I do that with a printed book, I'll lose my pace and focus. With the kindle, it's very fast and easy to insert a quick note and not have to wrestle back the pages attached to a stiff spine of a small softcover book.

I'm enthralled by the all of the other features. The selection of texts is incredible. The Text-to-Speech function is great for times when my hands and eyes busy with other tasks. The MP3 function is good, but I wish that it would include other types of music files because all of my Chopin and Beethoven are in MP4 format. If anyone needs to find a graduation gift for a senior in an English Literature program, this is my recommendation.

I love my Kindle 2, take it everywhere. I was worried I wouldn't like it or it wouldn't be worth it, because it is more money than I am used to spending. But it is worth every penny, I love that when I want a book I just download it and it is there within seconds. Our bookstore never has any of the books I want, they always have to order them, well no more. It is so convenient, you don't lose your page when you have to move your hair out of your eyes (book doesn't accidently close) or tend to kids, you can use one hand which is nice. Did I mention I love this!! You will not regret this purchase.

Thanx for the heads-up. What version of IE are you using?

I'm using a mostly standard Wordpress theme called "WP-Andreas09 2.2 by Andreas Viklund and Ainslie" that I'm modifying to be elastic and liquid (so that it sizes itself as you change the browser window or font size). I'm not coding the CSS for IE6.0 at all.

Can you send me a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanx,
--Bob.

Hi there. I've been reading on your blog for a couple of weeks. And I just wanted to let you know that today when I tried to open your blog with Internet Explorer, it doesn't display correctly. Just a FYI :)

A snuggly e-reader? What a great idea! I don't enjoy reading anything long on any type of monitor. I also like the feel of a book and folding pages and maybe even writing the odd note. Love the tactility of fingering the pages. <br/>As for recommending authors - that author cloud page I was looking for is here: http://www.literature-map.com/<br/>Now if only we can get blogs on paper...
